Progress!....but still not finished...
Thanks to friends from Grand Cayman I was able to order a more powerful radio transmitter for the Radio Station.  It has arrived--FINALLY--after having been delayed by the many obstacles that afflict us down here.  The problem is now how to get the new tower to where the station is.  The guys asked for one so bulky its going to take a dump truck to bring it so we are trying to see if we can find one willing to bring it.

I had also ordered equiptment to do a substation here in Dariol that will send a signal to the station thus permitting me to  participate in the broadcasts.  Well, it got here and its really great--simple and easy to operate.  The problem thus far is the Radio Station hasn't been able to pick up our signal yet.  The engineer says he will come back in a week to try some other technique.

Please pray that the LORD will help us to overcome these remaining problems.

Great Investment Opportunities!

Social Security looking doubtful?  Your IRA looking malnourished?
Your 401K in the tank?

Jesus says to store what is valuable to you where moths don't ruin. rust won't corrode and where thieves won't steal (and the IRS can't inquire).

The Crusade that was just held yielded "a return" of 65 souls who came forward to receive Christ.  Even Wallstreet couldn't give you such a profit based on the small amount expended.  Yet as we have seen Christ do before, smallness of resources isn't an issue with HIM.  Two small fish and 5 small loaves of bread can do wonders!  And yet let's suppose the boy hadn't been willing to share....

I need people willing to invest in spiritual undertakings which are guaranteed to yield eternal riches.  Who can put a price on just one human soul?

Any takers?

Up to the mountain...
Today I'm going up to the Christian Radio Station that Gospel Growers founded to spend 4 days.  Its located in the mountains behind Cote de Fer.

I will be meeting with the staff there and re-doing any cds that need to be replaced for them on my laptop.  Believe me its an undertaking as I have to take almost everything that I will require during the 4 day stay as there isnt much available.

During the Saturday evening broadcast I will be sharing information with our listening audience about our soon to occur transformation from a 110 watt to a 300 watt power station.  It will dramatically increase the potential size of our audience bringing Christ into more households than before.

There will also be a substation installed at Dariol allowing for my personal participation.  We will be able to lengthen our broadcast day which will allow us to be even more effective.

Please pray for this new level of operations that we will be engaged in, that it be work out to the greater glory of our Lord and Saviour , Jesus Christ, as more and more people hear the Gospel by means of our Radio broadcasts.

We appreciate any financial support that will help us to continue this radio ministry.

Can things get worse...?
Yes, as a matter of fact, things did just get worse.  Who would have thought that after 25 years of exile, Haiti's infamous former President "for life" would take it in his head to suddenly return to Haiti.  It only adds another dark aspect to Haiti's seemingly endless progress into confusion and trouble.

Please pray for Haiti as its recently held Presidential election remains in limbo causing doubt and consternation among the people.  They want to know WHO is President!

Prophets of doom are also predicting that 2011 will be a year of higher food costs and increasing hunger, something which we are already experiencing here in Haiti.
Thank you, Angie Brannan for your gift towards our food program for the kids at Dubois school.  We are preparing to start this new endeavor.  Anyone out there wishing to help, please contact me at samrice@gospelgrowers,org.

Gospel Growers is among a group of org.s and churches which are holding a Crusade in the center of the Cote de Fer District this coming week.  The theme will be Romans !:16--There is Power in The Gospel to Save!  Please pray that many hearts will be reached for Christ.

I had gotten some wonderful sermon messages on cd from a Haitian Pastor in Miami.  Gregory Toussaint is a Spirit blessed speaker and his preaching is having a positive effect on the listeners of our Radio Station down here.  Thanks to believers of Elmslie Memorial United Church of Grand Cayman who have helped the Radio Station from its start.  Many Haitian Christians are being blessed and people have come to Christ through this ministry.  Four members of this church are planning to visit with me in February.

If you aren't yet supporting Gospel Growers through your prayers and/or support, please consider doing so.  The Lord is using us to make a difference here in this part of Haiti.

National Day of Mourning
We've arrived at that moment, that terrible moment.  If only we had had a premonition of what was coming, perhaps we could have warned the people and thousands could have been saved...and so it always seems remembrance of a terrible event returns after a year.

Tomorrow, January 12th, the Haitian government has proclamed to be a National Day of Mourning for the hundreds of thousands who perished in the earthquake twelve months ago.  All government will be closed, and all businesses are to stop so that the people can reflect and pray and ask God to help Haiti.  The dead are remembered, but they are beyond help, the living need to be helped.

So little foreign assistance that was promised has actually arrived Haiti still resembles its post earhquake state.  This will make the day's rembrances so much more vivid.
Preval is stalling in allowing the political crisis to be resolved.  Its terrible for these poor people who want to go forward.

Gospel Growers has given hope and encouragement to the dispairing through its Christian Radio Station, clinic and Christian schools it supports.  4 new churches have been planted in the area.  But we are needing financial assistance from you all who are reading this blog.  Please help us by asking your churches and friends to assist us at this time when so much is needed to help Haiti to climb out of its hole of poverty.

We offer different ministries which give hope to the people in our part of Haiti--medical care, education, and above all we communicate the GOSPEL!  So many humanitarian organizations spend large amounts of money in their advertising and publications to attract donors, but they only treat the body and neglect the soul.  Gospel Growers is a small organization with a large vision but a small amount of resources.  We praise the Lord as He has so often blessed our work as He did with the 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread.  The effects of our work have had large spiritual blessings.

Please invest in this endeavor here in Haiti.  We need your help in 2011.

A Blessed time...
The service and Agape meal at Metaye yeasterday afternoon was a wonderful time.  There were even some neighboring churches there to swell the gathering.  Music, praise and worship filled the shelter  as the Holy Spirit warmed the hearts of His people.

I had asked a Pastor I know from Cavalier to give the message.  Brother Octive preached from Matthew 2--the first coming of Christ and shared different points.  It was a real blessing.

The meal was well-prepared by Pastor Rodrig's wife and the ladies of the church.  There was rice and beans, fried chicken, sauce and a diced vegetable medley of carrots, beets and potatos with mayonaise dressing--absolutely delicious!  And everyone was served!  There were soft drinks and then the candy that Mt. Zion had sent was distributed to the delight of the kids!

The service was a blessed event that reached out into the community to witness the love of God, and how it manifests itself in the lives of His people. Thanks to all of you who made this possible by your generosity.

Donors sought
In an effort to minister to and strengthen the faith of our young people in the Cote de Fer area, we are planning a 3 day retreat scheduled during the period known as Mardi Gras holidays just before Lent(40 days before Easter).  The schools will be closed and we see this as a perfect time to bring 200+ kids together in order to hold seminars, workshops and evangelize as well.

Funds are requested in order to feed these kids over the3 day period, rent sound equipment, and to bring in speakers that will stimulate and challenge their faith.  I'm shooting for $1500 for this event.

Please consider helping us, its a great investment opportunity--investing in the future of these young people.  Any contributions can be sent to

Many Thanks!
You may recall I had mentioned in an earlier blog entry that Pastor Rodrig of Metaye Church was married on Christmas Day.  This is why we are only now going to celebrate the coming of Christ tomorrow, January 6.

There will an afternoon gathering and worship, adoration service from 1 pm to 4 or 5 pm.  Thanks to Veronica and Jim Guerriero's home group friends we will be able to have music and an Agape meal--a real celebration.

This is a great lift for this community as they were first to be hit with cholera in our area.  There will be much praise lifted up to our Lord for His gracious intervention.  People there have continued to come forward to receive Jesus as Lord.

I also had received 2 boxes of candy from Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 36 Meade Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA.  This candy treated kids of 3 churches here--Dubois Church, Dariol Church and tomorrow at Metaye church.  Many thanks to these generous donors for making some happiness and joy here at a time when things have been so difficult.

JESUS CHRIST--the same today, tomorrow and forever...
I think everyone can understand the Haitian peoples' relief to be finally rid of 2010, but what of 2011?  Here we are on the third day of January and things are apparently quiet, though looming on the horizon is the anniversary date of 12 January when the great Earthquake struck Haiti.  There is some anxiety under the surface here, as the political situation remains unresolved and over a month after Presidential elections the people still have no idea of who their new leader will be.  Will there be violence breaking out soon, these things are on everyone's mind.

The cholera progress is at a standstill at present here in Dariol as we have had no new cases reported yet.

So many of the people here get some form of assistance from family or friends in the states, the shakiness of the US economy also has them wondering if this lifeline will be cut off.

We need to remember how our Lord has already brought us through many trying circumstances already and stand firm on HIS promises as HE doesn't change from day to day as our situation does. In fact, HE is the ONLY thing we can hold onto securely that will not give way in this present shaky world.

We look forward into this year with confidence assured that whatever happens in the coming days, weeks and months, our
LORD JESUS will be right beside us to assist, comfort and guide us just as he has done in the past.

PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!
