"in the last days there will very difficult times..." 2 Timothy 3:1
I have been to DARIOL for about 3 weeks and thats why the blog entries came to an abrupt end. Thankfully, things
there are quiet at present. We need much prayer over the terrible insecurity situation in Pot-au-Prince.
Police reports state that there were about 100 people kidnapped and held for ransom during the month of November (only the
reported ones). Its an absolute crisis and together with the drug problem is pulverizing Haiti's economic and political
progress. Where would we be if we didn't have a strong shield and refuge in our Lord? Let us continue to look
to Him for our security and protection. It has been said that true security is not in the absence of danger, but in the
presence of God. Pray for Haiti and other places on this planet that are experiencing much tribulation.
"He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord," Prov. 19:17
One of the ministries Gospel Growers has is to help especially gifted poor students to realize the dream of attending
a College. The future of Haiti could be changed as young Christian professionals find places in their Society and serve
as witnesses for the Lord.
We don't often have funds to do this, but three years ago Myra Obenhouse of Point Blank, Texas decided to invest
in the future of Eriguer Exavier. He has been attending a College in Port-au-Prince and this will be his final
year. He hopes to get a degree in Education and thereby help other young Haitians to strive for higher education.
A couple from Falling Spring Presbyterian took over when Myra was unable to continue. It involved donating
$500 a year towards Eriguer's dream. This year his dream will hopefully become a reality.
There are many more with the same dream, maybe you could help?
"We are careful to be honorable before the Lord..." 2 Cor. 8:21
Being first in something is usually something to be proud of... but not always. Transparency International just
published their annual list of the most/least corrupt nations. Of the 163 countries studied and listed, Haiti was given
the doubtful distinction of being the most corrupt-- again. But before America pats herself on the back, take
notice that they show corruption is worsening there as well. In 2 Cor. 8:21, Paul declared himself to be very sensitive
to any appearance of dishonesty in his fundraising activities. This is a goal that all Christians should strive for,
and not only those engaged in ministry. It is also important that those who wish to share
their resources do their homebook and research those organizations they wish to help and to keep informed
of the results of their support. This helps to keep everyone where they should be--in the clear.
"Jesus said, "I am the Resurrection and the Life..." John 11:25
We're in the midst of a two day vacation down here. As you may not know Catholicism is the official religion of
Haiti so all the religious holidays are national holidays. Some will extend the holiday to Monday. All govt. offices
are closed as well as banks and some other businesses. Thousands still in spiritual ignorance crowd the cemeteries to
offer food and liquor to the dead, burn candles, pray to the spirits and cavort among the tombs. There are still many
to reach with the Good News of Jesus Christ. Please pray that the Lord will bless our efforts to bring as many as possible
into the fold of Christ. We have the information that can free the masses from their hopeless captivity to Satan.
Please help us as we work here as "the harvest is great..." and more workers are needed.
